The climate on the Granada coast
Discover the pleasant Mediterranean climate that characterizes this beautiful coastal region.
The Costa Tropical of Granada enjoys an exceptionally pleasant climate, similar to that of the Andalusian Mediterranean coast. One of its most notable characteristics is the winter thermal mildness, the result of several factors. The moderating influence of the sea, the southern orientation of the coast and the protection provided by the Sierra Nevada against the cold fronts from the northwest are determining factors in this temperate climate. During the winter months, average temperatures remain between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius, which avoids the presence of frost and practically eliminates climatic winter. However, it is common to experience episodes of intense heat when the winds come from the interior, a phenomenon known as "terrestrial wind." For approximately four months a year, average temperatures exceed 20°C, even surpassing the summer season. Regarding rainfall, the region falls within the Central Sector of the Andalusian Mediterranean Coast, with an annual average between 300 and 600 cubic millimeters. However, a dry period spanning from May to September and December as the wettest month are distinctive features. This combination of climatic factors makes the Costa Tropical of Granada an attractive destination all year round, with ideal conditions to enjoy outdoor activities and explore the natural beauty of the region.
